Name: Queen Ilyssa Raolusque of Sandomierz
Age: 15
Connection to the throne: Sandomierz Queen and betrothed of Jephry
Political Standing: Ilyssa is a selfish, spoiled girl; she doesn't care much for anything and considers the political game nothing but that: a silly game. She thinks people who care too much about power are stupid and only concerns herself with what she personally wants. Her power is nothing more than a weapon to wield for when she wants something.
Moral Standing: Ilyssa is very naive, very young and knows next to nothing about sex. She has been brought up with the Church, and therefore is horrified by any wrongdoings. Sex is something for married couples (only when necessary), and hedonism is straight to hell. She believes she follows the Ten Commandments, though she tends to bend them to benefit herself.
Strengths: Ilyssa is well-liked by her people, if only because she is a pretty, charismatic girl. She refuses to take no for an answer, always believing she can do it if she sets her mind to it, and proves very idealistic.
Weaknesses: Ilyssa also tends to play favorites with people, mostly those who pay her false flattery. She's a very bad judge of character, too whimsical, and holds grudges far too long. Her stubbornness can also prove to be bad, especially in times of war and compromise.
Likes: Silk, lace, pretty things, money, being royal, Sandomierz, horseback-riding, perfume, balls, romance, and travelling.
Dislikes: People who disobey her, violence, people who don't worship the ground she walks on, lack of activity, and anything ugly or smelly.
Background: When Ilyssa was very young, the heir to the throne, her older brother Darius died of a terrible jousting accident. Her parents were terribly unhappy, not only because their son was dead, but so was the future heir. Although it has never been mentioned, it was generally accepted (despite the royal family's attempts to hush things up) that the King, Ilyssa's father, was impotent and there would be no legitimate heirs to the throne... aside from the pretty five-year old babe that would win the hearts of the public.
From that moment on, Ilyssa was forced to take on the upbringing of a future monarch. She studied astronomy, literature, languages, history, battle tactics, and mathematics. She learned quickly and easily, but proved to be unhappy; her parents, suddenly realizing the mortality of any life, showered her with gifts, love, and attention. Ilyssa became easily accustomed to their easy ways and was smart enough to figure out they'd do anything she wanted... if she'd pout a little. When she caught a sickness of the lungs when she was eight, no one knew what to do, only knew to satisfy her by doing as she bid them. Since then, Ilyssa's been very sickly on and off.
At the age of thirteen, Ilyssa's mother died of influenza; her father soon followed. His cause of death: a broken heart, though officially it was dysentry. Left alone and forsaken (if a bit peeved), Ilyssa quickly took on the role of the youngest monarch to ever rule Sandomierz, aided with the four generals who had acted as advisors to her own parents. She has functioned thus ever since; it was her idea to interrupt Narborough's own inner turmoil by invading them, if only to satisfy a little boredom.
After all, what's a few thousand men lost to satisfy the inactivity of a young monarch?
Personality: Ilyssa is terribly self-conscious and self-absorbed; she spends literally hours preening and fixing herself in front of her mirror. Her obsession with beauty is due to the fact she has felt pressure to live up to her handsome parents and their legacy. This hobby has also contributed to her gullibility for beauty products: she buys creams, gels, solutions, foaming soaps, anything promised to make her fairer, her hair softer, her eyes brighter, etc.
Her selfishness also makes her remarkably short-sighted; she is unable to see beyond what directly affects her. In this way, she is a typical example of a noble. However, don't mistake this flaw for stupidity: Ilyssa is also remarkably intelligent and would prove to be an excellent queen, if only she had her heart into it. Her complete disregard for others is mirrored by the fact she shows vast concern for her own safety and well-being, choosing to ignore the plights of others to satisfy her own problems.
Funnily enough, she's also a big romantic and has no qualms about sharing it. She changes moods quickly; no where is she near composed. She doesn't make an effort to hide her emotions; she's very loud about them, and when she is angered, it is best to run and duck. Ilyssa has a tendency to throw whatever is near her.
She's self-righteous, religious, and deeply devout. Any mention of sin sets her off, and she is quick to correct you. She attends confessional every Sunday and was once very fond of Clement, if only in idea.
Despite all these bad traits, Ilyssa is kind to those she favors. If she dislikes you, well...
You're on your own for that one.
